Don’t wait for that perfect time to make sure you have those amazing portraits of you and your best horse. Now is the time to create those images that are worthy of a canvas on your wall, and that you will cherish forever.
Click on any Plan Your Session button to get started. After a filling out a short form you’ll be able to schedule a call so we can chat about what your perfect session looks like and pick a date.
I’ll send you over a Client Agreement with all the details. Your booking fee will officially hold your place on my schedule and be allocated towards your total session cost. You’ll receive your Welcome Guide to help you plan for the perfect session.
About 2 – 4 weeks before your session date we’ll schedule another call to go confirm location and a detailed shot list so we’re sure to get exactly the images you want. One to two weeks before your session I’ll send you a handy Tips Guide so you can prepare.
Within 2 weeks of your session, you’ll receive your private online gallery with those images you’ll cherish forever. You can download, purchase prints at a discount and share, right from your gallery.
I’ve been around horses and cattle for most of my life so I understand their behaviors and how to get the most out of your photo session.
Photographers that aren’t experienced with horses won’t understand how to properly pose you and your horse, how to ask a horse to stand so you and your horse look your best, how to get those ears up and which angles and camera gear to use so your horse looks proportionate and not like a donkey with a ginormous head and ears (we love donkeys, but you know those awful cell phone pics we see all the time).
An equine photographer will know what stride looks the best when your horse is moving, and because we have our own horses, we always think of safety first, for both you and your best equine pal.
We understand the special relationship you can have with your equine partners, because we know how valuable that once-in-a-lifetime horse can be, and what it’s like when a horse gets you and will do whatever you ask of him.
An equine and ranch photographer will also be to anticipate what your horses and cattle are going to do next, helping to ensure that the images created are something you’ll want to hang on your wall forever.
All packages include:
A $150 retainer/booking fee ($50 for mini sessions) reserves your date on my calendar and is secured with a contract outlining all the details.
Your booking fee is credited towards your total package price. It is refundable up to 7 days prior to your scheduled shoot and can be applied to a rescheduled session. Booking fees are not refundable if a discount code is used to purchase your session.
When one hour just isn’t enough!
Invite the whole clan! The perfect amount of time for those wanting to shoot with multiple horses or a larger group of people/horses to get both group and individual shots.
A scaled down portrait session for you and/or your horse that is simple and affordable.
Mini sessions can be held at our ranch in Kendrick, Idaho, for a single participant, or you can opt for a preferred location of your choice, but a minimum of 3 participants is required if I travel to you, so get your friends on board and make a day of it!
Images from a personal portrait session are intended for personal use only. If you’d like to use them for commercial purposes—like promoting your equine business, sponsors, or products—just let me know and we’ll create a commercial license that fits your needs.
I’m based in the Lewiston/Moscow, Idaho area, but I love traveling to barns and ranches near and far! Travel within 40 miles or 40 minutes (whichever comes first) of Kendrick, Idaho is included. For sessions beyond that, a small travel fee may apply—just reach out and I’ll give you a custom quote.
Most clients book 4–6 weeks in advance, especially in late spring, summer and fall when the weather is perfect. If you’re hoping for a weekend date or golden hour light, reach out early!
Life happens! If you need to cancel your session entirely, I ask that you give written notice at least one week before your scheduled date and before your final payment is due. If you cancel after final payment is made, I can offer a 50% refund—but only if I’m able to fill your session slot with another booking.
I totally understand that weather, illness, or life happens! If you need to reschedule, there’s no penalty as long as you give at least 48 hours’ notice. If something comes up within 24 hours of your session, a $100 rescheduling fee may apply, at my discretion. I’ll always do my best to be flexible and fair.
Your nonrefundable retainer fee can be applied to a new date, as long as we rebook within 3 months of your original session. I may also reschedule if needed (weather and light are key!), and I do that without penalty to you.
Horses are my specialty, but I also photograph dogs, cattle, and other barnyard favorites! If it has four legs and a personality, I’m in.
Yes! A booking fee/retainer of $150 is required to hold your spot on my calendar. It is refundable up to 7 days prior to your scheduled shoot date, at which point your final payment is due. If you’d prefer to break it into payments, I’m happy to work with you.
No worries at all—I’m very patient and experienced with all kinds of equine personalities. I’ll guide you with gentle posing tricks and take breaks when needed. Walking with your horse is often an excellent way to settle them down and capture some great images. Some of the best photos come from spontaneous moments anyway!
The short answer is yes! While shooting with multiple horses often takes more time, we can usually make it work. If you want to include 3 or more horses, we might want to consider a longer session.
Yes! If you and a few friends at the same barn want to book on the same day, I offer discounted rates for back-to-back sessions. It’s a great way to save and make it a fun event. I also offer mini-sessions for those at one location, however you must commit to a minimum of 3 people.
We’ll keep an eye on the forecast together. If it’s rainy or super windy, we’ll reschedule at no extra charge. Your horse’s comfort and safety (and yours!) come first, and we want to make sure we’re able to capture the images you’ve been dreaming of with your horse.
Give your horse a good grooming, trim whiskers if you like, and make sure tack is clean if it’s being photographed. A clean halter or bridle (or even a leather lead) goes a long way!
I’ll send you a full prep guide about a week before your session that covers what to bring, outfit ideas, posing tips and grooming tips as well.
Wear something that makes you feel confident and comfortable, so you feel like you. Different colors go better with different color horses, so feel free to send me outfit ideas before your session for feedback. I also have a small (but growing!) Client Closet that you are welcome to browse and pick pieces from! The prep guide I send you will also give you some tips to help avoid wardrobe malfunctions and make sure we’re paying attention to the small details (like hair bands on your wrist).
It helps to have a brush, nice halter or bridle, and maybe a helper or friend to get those ears up. If we’re photographing multiple horses, having a few hands on deck is great.
You’ll receive a private gallery within 2–3 weeks, where you can immediately download your favorites, up to the amount included in your package. Since I upload all the best images from your session, you’ll have plenty to choose from and the option to purchase additional images beyond what is included in your package as well.
Of course! I just ask that you please restrain from screenshotting and sharing prior to making your selections and don’t crop or add filters. And if you feel like tagging me in your post, I would be so grateful!
