I typically book at least one month in advance, even longer during the late summer and fall months, as those are very popular seasons.
Branding sessions can require a bit more time to organize and coordinate, so please plan accordingly.
Equine end-of-life sessions can usually be scheduled in a more immediate time frame.
For portrait sessions, the preferred time of day is most often going to be “Golden Hour”. This is 1 hour before sunset, or 1 hour after sunrise. Evening sessions are the most popular, but early morning sunrise sessions can also be scheduled.
If it’s a full cloudy day (no sun) we can shoot any time of day and I can usually accomodate a last minute time change to free up your evening, if you wish.
Black background sessions can be done any time of day, a long as there is a fully shaded barn doorway available for shooting.
Equine sale images are best done in the middle of the afternoon when the sun is higher, to best show off a horse’s haircoat.
Yes, absolutely! I am located in Kendrick, Idaho, near Lewiston and Moscow, but I offer my photography all over Idaho, Eastern Washington and Western Montana, as well as throughout the Western United States.
The first hour of travel to and from your location is included in your session fee. Additional travel is charged at $35 per hour, which includes travel time & mileage.
If you are located outside of my immediate area, but book a session during my normal travel schedule, the travel fee is a flat $250.
If your session requires an extended drive, flight or hotel stay, a custom travel quote will be provided.
I will always be in touch by text 1-2 days prior to your session, so if the weather is looking bad during your scheduled session time, we can talk about rescheduling.
Keep in mind that often times, when the weather forecast says 75% chance of rain, it can mean there’s a 75% chance it will rain for 15 minutes and then the sun will come out and be beautiful. This is very typical for the north west area, especially.
There is no charge to reschedule due to inclement weather, however your session must take place within a 2 month period.
Rescheduling outside of weather or other urgent situation, without at least 24 hours notice, will result in a $100 rescheduling fee for locations within my normal travel area and a $250 fee for other locations that require extensive travel.
All brand photography sessions require a retainer/booking fee of $250 for all packages up to $1000.
All individual photography sessions require a retainer/booking fee of $150 for all packages.
This retainer/booking fee is credited towards your total investment. The balance is due in full 7 day prior to your session.
Payment plans for brand photo sessions over $1000 are available upon request, offered in bi-weekly or monthly payments. Your full session price must be paid in full at least 7 day prior to your session.
Yes! Group discounts are available for personal portrait clients when 3 or more people book for the same date and location. There is the option of either Mini Sessions for just a handful of images, or if everyone books a full portrait session, a percentage discount will be offered.
Any travel fees incurred will be divided equally among all who book for the same date and location.
Your full gallery of images and video (if part of your package) will be available in a private online gallery within 2-3 weeks of your session date.
You will usually see a sneak peek on my social media accounts within a couple of days however, because I can’t stand to keep you in suspense!
Your online gallery will be available for 30 days for you to select and download your final images. Extensions can be provided at times, however space is limited so the galleries are not available for extended periods.
You will also have the opportunity to purchase additional digital images, should you wish to have more than what is included in your package. Additionally, all personal portrait clients will receive a 15% discount code for purchases of prints, wall art and other goodies, directly through their online gallery.
You bet!
For a 1-hour session that includes 25 images, I will typically deliver 50-70 images for you to choose from. If you just can’t make up your mind, you can purchase additional digital images directly from your online gallery, or upgrade your package to the next level.
Of course! I even provide you with low-resolution versions that are the perfect size for sharing on all your social platforms.
These low-resolution images are watermarked with my logo, however it’s small and placed off to the side a bit so as not to be too intrusive.
While I don’t require that you tag me or give me photo credit, it is always VERY much appreciated!
NOTE: I retain original copyrights to ALL my images, so your photos CANNOT be submitted to contests, calendars, other businesses/brands or any publication. Please refer to your contract for details.
Approximately one month before your photos session, you will receive my complimentary guide “Tips to make the most of your Equine Photo Session”. I also have a guide for Senior Sessions, and will soon have one for non-equine sessions, as well. This guide will help you plan your outfits, give you some posting tips, point out a few details you may not have thought about, and help you get your horse ready, too.
Additionally, we will jump on the phone briefly to discuss all the details of your shoot, such as firming up the location, time of day and go over a shot-list, so we’re sure to capture all the moments you want.
Brands will also receive a more detailed questionnaire about their business prior to this call, to make sure we tell your story in the best way possible.
Yes! And also, no. It completely depends on where your shoot will be located.
If we’re shooting on your property, of course your dog is welcome. Just understand that your session only lasts a certain amount of time, so if we spend time wrangling your dog, it will take away from the time I spend capturing your images, and could potentially effect how many images you will receive in your gallery.
If we’re shooting on our ranch, it’s best to leave your dog at home, as we have dogs also.
There are other locations where dogs are allowed, however leash laws may apply, so that is something to consider, especially at public locations, such as state parks, etc.
